THE FUNCTIONAL-COGNITIVE ANALYSIS OF THE WAY-CONSTRUCTION IN MODERN ENGLISH

Abstract:  The report shows the role of way-construction in the organization of the syntactic structure of the sentence; reveals the functional variability of this construction, which manifests itself in its ability in different contextual environments to express the function of manner, as well as means of action; explicates the cardinal difference between these functions, conditioned by the difference in their underlying cognitive structures.
