ON VERBAL REPRESENTATION OF CONCEPT SPACE

Abstract:  Within the framework of cognitive paradigm of scientific knowledge the author explores the problem of lexical representation of basic ontological concept SPACE which helps to reveal the specific character of space perception by English linguistic consciousness. The author bases her observations on the study of different variants of the modification of the unique mental structure of this concept in discourse that contribute to determining the general configuration of conceptual features, displaying the nature of interconceptual relationship of concept SPACE.
