PUNCTUATION AS A MEANS OF DISTINGUISHING OF THE ACTUAL INFORMATION IN A SENTENCE

Abstract: 
The idea of the actual information is connected with that of an actual division of the sentence which is an important aspect of every saying. It determines the contents of the saying and influences its construction. One of the key questions is the means of expression of the actual division of the sentence. Different means are used for distinguishing the actual information in a sentence: dash, colon, dots. These means are used for logical and emotional distinguishing of a thought. Apart from its usual functions punctuation is an effective means of expression of the thematic-rhematic division of a sentence, namely of the expression of the actual information enclosed in the sentence.
