ABOUT TYPES OF SPATIAL RELATIONS IN THE SEMANTICS OF PREPOSITIONS IN GERMAN AND RUSSIAN

Abstract: 
Among spatial relations that find their reflection in the semantics of prepositions they single out the following ones: topological, dimensional and directional. Prepositions show a certain «specialization» in the expression of one of the above mentioned types. However, most often the semantic structure of prepositions combines a number of features that indicate various types of spatial relations. To reveal the peculiarities of the organization of these features and their influence on the combinability of prepositions is an important linguistic task.
