Abstract: The article is dedicated to linguo-cognitive study of metaphors and other manipulative stylistic means with the help of which the strategies of intimidation and discrediting are triggered in the political writing presenting the problems of Britain’s exit from the EU. Breaking news, features, and analysis of the leading British broad-casting companies and newspapers dedicated to the problem of Brexit dating Febru-ary-June 2016 are used as a material for the research.
