PECULIARITIES OF TRANSFORMATIONS OF PRECEDENT HEADLINES (IN ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN COSMOPOLITAN)

Abstract:  The article deals with the problem of transformations of precedent headlines of English and Russian Cosmopolitan. Four types of transformations are analyzed: substitution, supplement, truncation, supplement + truncation. Each type is considered according to the position of component transformed (anaphoric, epiphoric, medial), the quantity of changed component (monocomponent, polycomponent) and the quality of precedential component transforming and transformed (consonance, lexical transformation). The results prove that despite the quantity difference in types of transformation, a precedent text as a linguistic phenomenon is widely spread among English and Russian authors to interest readers, to draw their attention and create suspense effect.
