EVALUATIVE MEANINGS ENHANCED BY THE APPENDED (EXPLANATORY) MODIFIER

Abstract:  The paper dwells upon evaluative meanings enhanced by the appended (explanatory) modifier as a kind of apposition in English. The appended modifier highlights the zone in a mental space which presents its core. Evaluative meanings created by the appended modifier are relevant for discourse and pragmatics.
