Abstract: The article explores the linguistic specificity of function word meaning construction. The author focuses on how a function language unit signals grammatical meaning in terms of representing various types of knowledge. The cognitive approach which highlights the anthropocentric nature of meaning construction is understood to be a valuable tool for studying function word meaning representation considering its cognitive bases.
