CONCEPTUALISATION OF THE NEGATIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WOMAN IN ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN PAROEMIAS

Abstract:  The article presents the axiological interpretation of the concept WOMAN in the English and Russian proverbs and sayings. The analysis of paroemias as the bearers of ethnic viewpoint revealed universal and culture-specific negative characteristics of the woman and the means of her representation. The negative characteristics are conceptualized in language with the help of explicit morphological and lexical means. Metaphors and similes as the means of the expression of negative evaluation of the woman are also described.
