Abstract: Currently, the interest of linguists to the media discourse has been increased because of its manipulative potential. Creating articles, journalists not only set out the objective facts, but also form a certain image of reality by the readers. The high level of public trust to the media can successfully shape public opinion. Through euphemisation of media texts journalists can distort the facts or distract readers from any information. The article proves the special role of euphemisms in the texts of media discourse and gives some examples of manipulation of public opinion by using the euphemisms.
Keywords: discursive approach, media discourse, euphemism, manipulation.
