METAPHORICAL REPRESENTATION OF THE MIGRANT CRISIS IN EUROPE (BASED ON THE ENGLISH-LANGUAGE MEDIA)

Abstract:  The article focuses on the typical imaginative schemes or models of experience, underlying the semantic structure of the text which have metaphorical nature and serve as a means of expression related to the assessment of the situation of the migrant crisis in Europe in 2015-2016. It was found that the most frequent and productive areas of the metaphorical expansion are orientational metaphors that exhibit the vertical and horizontal spatial movements. At the heart of these movements are spatial oppositions TOP – BOTTOM, INSIDE – OUTSIDE.
