PHRASAL CONSTRUCTIONS AND RE-CATEGORIZATION OF LINGUISTIC INFORMATION

Abstract:  This paper discusses the linguistic cognition of a particular type related to constructions as schematic forms with schematic meanings represented by a cognitive structure. Constructions provide categorization and re-categorization of linguistic information. Specificity of this type of cognition is exemplified with the English phrasal construction manifested in the NP2 of NP1 syntactic form, the analog of which in Slavic languages is a noun phrase with the Genitive. To account for the categorizing and re-categorizing potential of this construction, the study employs Semantics of Lingual Networks (SLN).
