Abstract:
The article discusses the notion of “frame” as used in the studies of cognitive linguists and considers its application in the sphere of specialized translation to structure the translator’s knowledge of various kinds. By determining the structuring of frames with regard to the content and genre of the text, the author suggests two types of frames, such as situational and conceptual which represent knowledge depending on its connotative or denotative component, with the latter fully presented in technical texts.
