Abstract
The research of the assimilation process of foreign lexicon has two aspects: linguistic and psycholinguistic turned to the perception of a native speaker. This is especially crucial to the analysis of the process of the phonetic assimilation, during which an alien word can retain the character of ‘foreign’ and in this case it doesn’t undergo any phonetic changes to a large extent. If the alien word loses its feature of “foreign” because of the frequency of usage, it assimilates the phonemic composition under the influence of the language system which it has been included into.
