CULTURAL IDENTITY OF PLANT NAMES IN ENGLISH, RUSSIAN AND FRENCH

Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the cultural identity of plant names on the example of Russian, English and French. It shows that all the described cognitive models of figurative meanings formation of plant names are universal. National identity is revealed in the fact that plant names, nominating the same plant in English, Russian and French, can develop figurative meanings according to different models; different cognitive contexts and features are activated. Moreover correlated plant names developing figurative meanings often acquire different evaluation.
