Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of some peculiarities of how antonomasia is used in the German sports discourse. The examples given in the article prove that antonomasia should be viewed not only as a stylistic device: the principles of anto-nomasia combinations arrangement are closely connected with different cognitive processes, such as profiling, discourse topicalization, conceptual spaces integration, comparison, evaluation, etc.
