METAPHORICAL MODELLING OF PERCEPTUAL EXPERIENCE AS A TYPE OF KNOWLEDGE REPRESENTATION WITHIN THE MEANING OF A WORD

Abstract: 
The article deals with the study of modelling of perceptual experience as a type of knowledge representation within the meaning of secondary concepts nominating the expanse of water in English. Semantic changes within the meanings peculiar to this domain are revealed and cognitive models which are the basis for metaphorical shift ‘The Expanse of Water→Time’ are identified.
