Abstract:
The article deals with the characteristic of the names of aggregate sets, that can be used in Singular and Plural forms. The notion of plurality may come into conflict with the lexical semantics of nouns of aggregate sets. The choice of number forms depends of discrete or collective (mass) conceptualization of their nouns. The meaning of segmentability into units particles is transmitted by the plural form of nouns. In Russian the names of plurality with the meaning of groups refer to the names with defective paradigm of number.
