THE EPITHET VIEWED IN A COGNITIVE ASPECT

Abstract: 
This article is dedicated to the substantiation of the hypothesis which consists in the fact that the epithet can be investigated within the framework of cognitive poetics. From this perspective, it is appropriate to talk about the genesis of the epithet, the fundamental differences between the essence of the modern epithet and the epithet in the early stages of its development.
