THE COGNITIVE FACTORS UNDERLYING THE COMBINATION OF THE UNIVERSAL AND CULTURE-SPECIFIC IN METAPHOR

Abstract: 
The article refers to the wide topic of cognition in the cultural context and addresses the issues related to the cognitive factors underlying the combination of universal and culture-specific in metaphor. As the conceptual basis and the cognitive mechanisms of the language metaphor and simile are the same the illustrative material includes examples of both metaphors and simile.
