APPLICATION OF THE CORPUS APPROACH TO THE CONCEPT ANALYSIS

Abstract: 
The article develops the corpus approach to the analysis of the concept “area”. Based on the materials presented in various English-language dictionaries the author examines the conceptual components of the chosen concept. The realization of the highlighted components in real speech, as well as different sociolinguistic features of the studied concept were examined on the basis of the data given in the BNC Lab corpus.
