CONCEPTUAL METAPHORS OF FIRE AS A WAY OF CATEGORIZATION OF THE WORLD

Abstract:  The article explores conceptual metaphors of FIRE in the English language. The basic method of analysis is the cognitive theory by G. Lakoff and M. Johnson according to which the metaphorical conceptualization of FIRE can reflect how a subject interacts with the world attributing concrete and familiar features to abstract incomprehensible notions .
