Abstract
Our experience of interacting with the physical world serves as a natural and logical basis for the understanding of more abstract things, which is reflected in the creation of metaphors. The analysis of English metaphors with a mythological component has shown that on a cognitive level they are followed by conceptual metaphors, which, in their turn, are involved in the “generation” of cultural symbols, actively functioning in different historical eras.
