Abstract:  The article provides new research material to extend the author’s ideas developed in the existing papers about the ways of detection and linguistic interpretation of the “cultural background” lying behind some culturally significant units in the Russian language ( man, character, face, etc.). The ideas are based on the analysis of cultural connotations in phraseologisms, specific features of free words compatibility and some usual derivation models.
