Abstract:
The article focuses on sociocultural dominants that represent the sources of interpretation of phrasemes with zoonym constituents. The sociocultural dominants are pieces of significant knowledge common to the specific community. This knowledge ensures the focal perception of construction interpretive meaning. According to their origin, we distinguish the five basic types of sociocultural dominants, namely domestic (everyday), historical, traditional, geographical, literary, religious, and gastronomic, on the basis of Russian, English, and French.
