Abstract:
This article is devoted to the problem of the compatibility of incompatible images in a malaphor as a subtype of a mixed metaphor, and the problem of the boundaries of linguistic creativity. Analysing the processes of narrowing and broadening of meanings in malaphor, the authors arrive at the conclusion that the decoding of malaphor values is based on two main models: the model of complementing the meaning of the original expression, and the model of adding new meanings to the original expression.
