Abstract: The article shows the transition from the traditional view of understanding natural communication to polymodality as an integral approach to language learning. The paper briefly describes the desire of cognitive linguistics to overcome monomodality in interaction and promote the importance of gestures as the most important psychophysiological basis in communication.
