Abstract: In this paper, a new notion of incompleteness factor has been put forward. It serves as a characteristic of genres in sound speech and as a parameter of a speaker him/herself. The factor of incompleteness is illustrated by examples of professional actors reading and newscasters reading. The factor of incompleteness in actors reading is generally very close to zero, while the factor of incompleteness in newscasters reading fluctuates within the value of 30%. The main means of discourse incompleteness is a variety of rising accents. The minor working corpus including an hour of spoken records has been set up specifically for this investigation.
