MENTAL SPACE INTEGRATION AS REPRESENTED BY THE ENGLISH VERBS DENOTING “AGREEMENT”

Abstract:  This article describes blending of mental spaces made by the English verbs denoting “agreement”. The speaker depending on his intention focuses on important optional frame components but the obligatory components are fixed. The frame semantics helps to show the structure of a mental space and fuzziness of its borders. Blending of mental spaces underlines flexible nature of categorisation as a result of general conceptualisation.
