THE ROLE OF MATRIX FORMAT OF KNOWLEDGE IN THE INTERPRETATION OF DERIVATIVES FROM PROPER NAMES

Abstract: 
The article discusses the role of the matrix format of knowledge in the interpretation of derivatives from place names. The structure of the cognitive matrix that defines the semantics of derivatives from place names is described. The structure of cognitive matrix includes the following cognitive contexts: CULTURE, TERRITORY, HISTORY and LANGUAGE. It is shown that cognitive models and mechanisms of conceptual derivation help to interpret derivatives from place names.
