Abstract
The article reveals the way cognitive linguistics is represented in contemporary Russian and Western philosophy and points at the assumptions that determine it as a separate discipline. The author describes those philosophical studies that determined the previous paradigms of linguistic knowledge in Western theories of language analysis. In the article the readers can find viewpoints of Western scholars on the cognitive perspective of linguistic studies; the main idea is that the foundations of the interaction of cognitive semantics with the philosophy of science are even nowadays narrower in linguistic concern than in scientific explorations based on the same integration between them in our country.

Keywords:  cognitive-discursive paradigm of linguistic knowledge, cognitive linguistics, theories in philosophy, cognition theory, language structures, cognitive structures
