MEANS OF COMPRESSIVE WORD-FORMATION: DIFFERENTIATION DIFFICULTIES

Abstract: 
The report deals with such means of compressive word-formation as univerbation, blending, abbreviation, lexicalization, compounding. All of them help to form words on the basis of syntactic constructions (word combinations and sentences). Having much in common these means of word-formation are not the same as they have different mechanisms of work and the resulting units are not equal in terms of formal and cognitive integrity.
