METONYMICAL MODEL AS A WAY OF FORMING ADJECTIVES WITH COLOUR MEANING

Author:  G. L. Moliboga

Abstract
In this article there are discussed some issues concerning metonymy, as it transcends linguistic phenomenon and functions in our conceptual system as stable, regular metonymical concepts which are systematized in our mind and reflected in our culture with the help of language. Also adjectives with colour meaning are discussed; their meanings appear as a result of the metonymical model WHOLE-PART that lets us use the name of an object associated with a definite colour for designation of the colour itself.

Keywords:  metonymy, metonymical models, metonymical transfer, metonymical concepts, colour designation
