Abstract: The latest UK population Census revealed that almost 40 % of the population in east London, England's most ethnically diverse area, speak English as a second language which means there has been decrease in local white population. Experts warn of the damage done by the young immigrants to the English language in the area. The problem of national variation of the English language marked by the linguistic and extralinguistic factors is analyzed. The article focuses on Multicultural London English – a new dialect of the East End of London which is spoken by young people from different ethnic backgrounds.
