Abstract:  The information theory of representation is known for its contradictions in the modern analytic theory of mind. It is related to the special ontological status of the content of the representation. The essence of these problems boils down to the fact that the content of mental representation may differ from the contents nomically dependent on the events that cause the representation. These contradictions of the information approach are resolved in the framework of the teleological semantics while preserving the ontological significance of the content of mental representations. The teleological semantics takes the particular explanatory power on the aspect of body-oriented theory of representation.

Keywords:  nomic dependence, proper function, representation, teleological semantics, algorithmic semantics, cognitive affordances
