“EHAT’ NA MASHINE” OR “DRAIVIT’”: WHY RUSSIAN-ENGLISH BILINGUALS CHOOSE THE SECOND VARIANT

Abstract:  The article presents an analysis of language interference of L2 as reflected in L1 performance of Russian-English bilinguals. Special attention is paid to the study of lexical and morphological aspects of bilinguals’ speech, which are caused by the language and mental structures acquired with two languages. Besides, the authors analyze the reasons for such an extensive use of anglicisms in Russian informal communication of bilinguals and the role the anthropocentric factor plays in the studied phenomenon.
