Abstract: This paper considers the two grounds for the Russian nouns classification: 1) the co-occurrence of a noun with the collective numerals and 2) functioning as vocatives. For both types of classification, the following concepts are relevant: a permanent or a long-lasting characteristic, a location of a person on a professional or a social scale, a relation to the speaker, an ethical assessment, a personal name. The constraints on the use of nouns in various contexts yield practically isomorphic sub-dividing. Nouns which do not co-occur with the collective numerals are ideal vocatives, while the nouns which do not function as vocatives easily cooccur with the collective pronouns.
Keywords: a human, a personal name, deontological assessment, collective numerals, vocatives, co-occurrence, concepts
