METONYMY AS A COGNITIVE MECHANISM FOR CATEGORIZATION OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD: AN EXPERIENCE IN MODELING OF PHRASEOLOGICAL SEMANTICS

Abstract:  In the article metonymy is considered to be a mechanism for structuring knowledge of the world, a metonymic modeling and a metonymic model of phraseo-logical semantics are defined, the process of categorization by means of metonymy is analyzed on French phraseological units.
