Abstract:  The article provides a review of contemporary cognitive theories and current research topics in the field of categorization and conceptualization, objectivist se-mantics, the theory of mental spaces, the blending theory, the conceptual metaphor theory, and also the analysis of their applicative potential in the sphere of language study.
