Abstract: The article considers the importance of the cognitive-discursive approach to setting trends in changes in the value paradigm of Anglo-Saxon educative discourse, those associated with differences in adults' attitude to the role of the child and socialization function. Dynamics of values of education-related communication is educed by comparing means of language categorization in didactic texts for parents of the 18th and 20th centuries.
