Abstract:  The article focuses on the mediating role of the translator in providing the road navigation for the foreign guests who visit Altai Krai. The practice of converting the texts of the road signs from one language into the other happens to reveal a number of pitfalls, mistakes and errors determined by the complexity of the mental processes in the mind of the person who is in the middle of two cultures, two languages, and two world views.
