A GASTRONOMIC IMAGE AS A SIGN OF NATIONAL CULTURE AND NATIONAL CONCSIOUSNESS

Abstract:  The paper is devoted to the determination of gastronomic image nature as a sign of national culture and national consciousness on the material of English and Russian metaphorically motivated nominations. The system of gastronomic images is reconstructed on the basis of association background of a gastronomic realia name in the structure of such nominations. The value of an evaluation component in their metaphorical organization is claimed. It gives the right to consider the latter as one of the mechanisms of evaluative conceptualization and categorization of the world by a man.
