THE SYNCRETISM OF LANGUAGE CONSCIOUSNESS OF A BILINGUAL PERSON AND ITS MANIFESTATION IN METAPHOR

Author:  L. A. Kozlova

Abstract:  One of the consequences of the interaction between languages and cultures and the effect of this interaction on the consciousness of a bilingual person is the syncretization of consciousness, the coexistence of images, formed on the basis of the first language with those of the second language. This phenomenon has numerous ways of its manifestation in language, one of these ways being the use of the images formed on the basis of the first language in the process of creating metaphor in the new language.

Keywords:  language consciousness, a bilingual person, images of consciousness, syncretism, metaphor
