Abstract:  This article deals with the semantic and cognitive structure of conceptual oppositions. Special attention is paid to the analysis of conceptual inversions, otherwise known as examples of reframing, which are regarded as a result of interaction of positively and negatively connotated members of conceptual oppositions in proverbs and sayings in the Russian and English languages.
