DIRECT AND INDIRECT SPEECH ACTS WITH UNDERSTATEMENT IN THE SITUATION OF SELF REPRESENTATION (LINGUA- COGNITIVE ANALYSIS)

Abstract:  The article deals with direct and indirect speech acts with understatement and analyses the different nature of their intentional states. It presents the analysis of the language of understatement representation and the analysis of intentional states of speech acts aimed a) to deceive the Hearer and b) to protect the Speaker from the Hearer's impolite remarks in the communicative situation of self representation.
