THE ANIMAL IN THE LANGUAGE PICTURE OF THE WORLD (CASE STUDY: THE GERMAN LANGUAGE)

Abstract:  The linguistic picture of the world reflects unique sociohistorical experience and peculiarities of world view of a whole nation. Observations of animals and their habits give rise to figurative meanings of words as well as the appearance of new words in a language. The article investigates the status of compound words containing zoonyms in the German linguistic picture of the world.
