LANGUAGE EMPATHY AND ITS ROLE IN UNDERSTANDING THE GRAMMAR OF ANOTHER LANGUAGE

Author:  L.A. Kozlova

Abstract:  One of the outcomes of the realization of anthropocentrism as a paradigmatic feature of mod-ern linguistics is the cooperation of linguistics with the whole spectrum of sciences which study man in all aspects: psychology, physiology, biology, history and culture. In the process of this co-operation linguistics has become enriched with the new notions, whose use contributes to increasing the explanatory potential of linguistic studies. One of such notions is the notion of empathy which is widely used in modern cognitive psychology. The article shows the possibility of using the notion of empathy in cognitively-oriented studies of grammar.

Keywords:  anthropocentrism, language empathy, the language of thought, cognition, world view.
