LIBERALIZATION OF LANGUAGE: A VIEW FROM RUSSIA

LIBERALIZATION OF LANGUAGE: A VIEW FROM RUSSIA

Author:  Cowley Stephen J.

Affiliation:  The University Of Southern Denmark

Abstract:  In this paper, I argue that, rather as views of language changed a hundred years ago, another such shift is underway. We are part of, not a refutation, but an emerging perspective. Turning from synchronic „objects‟, language is increasingly placed in the living world. It is physical, emerges from living beings, and transforms human understanding.

Keywords:  distributed cognition, embodiment, neo-linguistics.
