THE PLACE OF LINGUISTIC RESEARCH IN THE CONTEXT OF THE DISTRIBUTED LANGUAGE THEORY WITHIN THE COGNITIVE ANALYSIS OF LANGUAGE

Abstract:  The article presents research data in the framework of Distributed Language Theory, which is part of the overall context biocognitive approach to linguistics. Some features of the methodology of this trend in comparison with the traditional cognitive approach are considered. It is argued that the differences identified are devoted to two perspectives: language as a system of information storage and language as a communicative process (“off-line” and “on-line”), as well as the internalist and externalist approaches. Analysis of the literature led to the conclusion that the study based on the methodology of the Distributed Language Theory focuses on «on-line» phenomena.
