ON LINGUISTIC TRACES OF KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER

Author:  Demyankov V.Z.

Abstract:  Knowledge transfer lies behind non-literal use of linguistic expressions when things belonging to the sphere of immediate knowledge are used in the talk about what is not so close to immediate knowledge. This is why even in most abstract scientific discourses, linguistic traces of naïve non-scientific views may be found. Linguistic techniques of analyzing everyday meanings of words used in scientific or political discourses may be helpful for discovering the mechanisms of knowledge transfer. This problem belongs to the most basic tasks of cognitive linguistics.

Keywords:  non-literal use of language, cognitive linguistics, knowledge trans-fer, linguistic aspects of political sciences
